Kelis and Nas finished

By Chris Richburg
The marriage between Queensbridge, NY rapper Nas and R&B songbird Kelis is officially over.

Vibe magazine reports that divorce papers were filed around 3:45 p.m. today (April 30) by attorney Laura Wasser on behalf of Kelis.

A representative denied intitial reports that verbal abuse and infidelity were the reasons behind the filing.

"We request the media to respect her privacy during this very difficult time," a representative for Kelis said in a statement.

The split concludes the romantic saga between Nas and Kelis that began when the pair first met in 2002 at an TV Video Music Awards afterparty thrown by rap mogul Sean “Diddy” Combs.

The meeting at the afterparty resulted in a two year dating relationship that set the stage for Nas and Kelis’ marriage.

The couple officially tied the knot in a small ceremony in Atlanta on January 8, 2005.

Soon after, Nas and Kelis’ personal union segued into their professional lives, as Nas appeared on Kelis’ “In Public,” a single from her 2003 album Tasty.

Kelis made a cameo of her own with her featured role on Nas’ Hip Hop Is Dead album on the song “Not Going Back.”

Despite their collaborations and personal fondness for each other, rumors of Kelis and Nas separating began surfacing on the Internet in March 2008.

News of the couple’s divorce arrives as Nas and Kelis prepare for the arrival of their first child together.

Did Flex go too Far ????????

New York City radio station Hot 97 has addressed last week's Interscope Records boycott threats from Funkmaster Flex saying he "went too far."
Hot 97 program director Ebro Darden claims the station is not known for boycotting any record label.
"We've never held back on a whole label's music," Ebro said in an interview. "And we won't. We've got good relationships with labels...We had to muzzle Flex...People know a lot of what he says is showmanship, but that went too far." (New York Daily News)
Flex announced his decision last week to stop playing records from Interscope over shady business practices.
"Let me tell you something Nino, New York I'm talking to a person who makes decisions, who does things up there moving funny style," Flex said on his radio show about an Interscope employee. "Interscope Records, nothin' is spinning...50 [Cent], from what I hear, your deal is up at Interscope, we got you. I'd walk out that building after that...That Eminem album is coming Interscope, I take pride in how I'm gonna do this movement...Unfortunately, we're not gonna be able to play those Eminem and Dr. Dre records and I'm so sorry this is the way this has to go down with this guy's album coming. I want us all to be friends, but Nino is not a friend of ours. I will go on with this, Nino, you got 24 hours to fix yourself or this goes some place else, tomorrow...Nino is the only one I'm letting off today, tomorrow I'm teeing off on the whole team." (Hot 97)
Aside from the Interscope issue, Hot 97 recently announced the line-up for this year's Summer Jam concert at Giants' stadium in June.
Hosted by comedian Tracy Morgan, this year's line-up includes Mary J. Blige, The-Dream, Jim Jones, Juelz Santana, Elephant Man, Young Jeezy, T-Pain & Friends, Jadakiss and surprise guests. (The Angie Martinez Show)
Dipset's Freekey Zekey has hinted that a reunion between Cam'ron and the rest of Dipset may take place at the concert.
"I just gotta tell you, stay tuned for Summer Jam," Zekey declared in an interview. "Like I said, it is what it is right now. N*ggas ain't talking to each other over simple sh*t, nobody killed nobody took no money from nobody, it ain't even no beef...This is a family dispute...We gonna be jammin' in the summer."
